Karaoke Rules & Etiquette
- Install the "What Can I Sing" songbook app from the store. Now you can view the Karaoke Songbook.
- Keep the microphone in front of your lips so we can hear you.
- Cheer for other singers the way you want them to cheer for you.
- Use the "WCIS" App create a Favorites list and Submit your songs for the night.
- Bring your friends and make new ones!
- Ask me questions. I'm happy to help!
- Can't find a song? Ask me!
- Tip the bartender and DJ. We're all here to make your night enjoyable.
- Sing duets. It's a great way to introduce a friend to karaoke.
- Most importantly, have fun!
- Tap, shake, or hit the microphones against your hand or anything else.
- Never put the microphone in front of a speaker. Feedback is never welcome.
- Never yell or scream in the microphone.
- Never cover the end of the microphone. It makes you sound really bad.
- Don't take the microphone or join another singer unless you're invited.
- Don't bring drinks to the stage or near the DJs equipment.
- Don't boo, heckle or put down other singers. We're all here to have a good time regardless of our ability to perform.
- Don't sign up your friends. Everyone must sign themselves up to sing.
- Don't ask to be bumped up. I maintain a fair rotation!
- Don't interrupt or distract a singer while they are performing.
- Repeated offenses may get you shut off for the night!
- And remember… it doesn’t matter how well or how badly you sing, as long as you have fun, you are awesome!
The Rotation
The rotation is simple and fair. It is automatically managed by the systems built in IntelliQ.
How IntelliQ Rounds Work
While the current round is open, new singers are added to the bottom of that round’s queue.
Once the round is locked, new song requests go into the next round. IntelliQ carries the existing singer order forward and considers how long on-site singers have been waiting since their last song. It also interleaves new singers with returning singers, so newcomers get a turn without jumping ahead of everyone who has been waiting—or having to wait through several turns first.
Want to maintain your place in the rotation? Keep more than one song in the queue. If you have only one song queued, your position next time may be different. Most likely you will be placed at the bottom of the round.
IntelliQ automatically manages the following round unless the host makes a manual change.
The goal is to keep the rotation fair for returning singers and newcomers while giving the host control over the queue.
